* The BMW 5 series continues to be tailor-made to the tastes of the driver with multiple options of Sedan or Gran Turismo, but those enhancements just got better. The exterior has been modernized with subtle, yet profile-enhancing, changes to the nose and tail. There are also contour lines around the grille and reshaped air intakes. All models now have adaptive xenon headlamps with LED alternatives available, and new thin-line taillamps are a nice addition. BMW has expanded both the standard and optional equipment including engine upgrades. The Gran Turismo specifically has received front fascia recasting and an extended liftgate that increases cargo capacity by 2.1-cubic feet. The luxurious outside look has been translated into the comfortable interior of the 5 series as well. There are many engines to choose from as well. On the 528i there is a 240hp 2.0L TwinPower Turbo. On the 535i there is a 300hp 3.0L TwinPower Turbo. The 535d comes with a 255hp 3.0L TwinTurbo Diesel. While the top of the line 550i comes with a 4.4L TwinPower Turbo V8. Other available features are ActiveHybrid which is paired to the 3.0L TwinTurbo or xDrive for AWD. BMW Assist can offer an emergency switchboard, navigation system, and information service all in one on an integrated 10.2-inch screen. The lowest model starts with ten speakers and options are available for many more sound packages. Existing upgrades for the tech enthusiast are iPad holders and snap-in adapters for Apple products and Blackberry make working from the car a breeze. In addition, rear view, side and top view cameras are all options for safety. Standard safety features include airbags, safety belt reminders, anti-theft alarm system, and an interlocking door anchoring system. Source: The Manufacturer Summary

  • Great Cruiser!

This car is wonderful. You have to spend more than a few miles in it and it will grow on you instantly. Huge backseat and storage, luxury and comfort for the driver and passenger, perfect for a car seat and road trip, or put the back seats down and use it for utility (just get the rubber trunk mat!) I'm reconfiguring the backseat as a mobile office with laptop tray and great for Real Estate showings and just overall chauffeuring that is pleasant for both driver and passengers. It is a little button heavy with technology but you will get used to it really quick (what newer cars are not these days?)Don't let visual reviews fool you. This is beauty in the eye of the beholder, and from the inside looking out, not from the outside looking in.
  • Luxurious Ride with Some Electronics Issues

The 535 GT is a nice looking alternative to the standard four door sedan. The ride is firm but comfortable and the plush leather seats are very supportive. The GT handling is not as nimble as a regular five series, because it's built on a seven series platform. This provides plenty of legroom in the front and back and a smoother ride. The fit and finish on my 535 GT is about perfect, inside and out. The hatchback is accessible two ways, by raising the full hatch up revealing the full trunk or by flipping down the back side of the hatch. This allows for access to the trunk in a tight space without room to raise the hatch. There is plenty of room in the back and even more with the rear seats folded forward. Overall, my experience has been good with the car with one large exception. The electronics are very sensitive and have malfunctioned on many occasions. The car has been in the shop for failed sensors all over the place, from exterior blind spot cameras to a failed break sensor. In one case, I was stranded for four hours in a parking garage because the electronic emergency break mechanism failed and the break was engaged on its own. I could start the vehicle but it wouldn't move and there was no manual override. Also, be aware, the run flat tires that come in the vehicle only last about 30,000 miles and are costly to replace. All in all, the car is luxurious, nice, rich looking and has a smooth touring ride; however, the electronic failures are annoying to say the least. For this reason, I would be cautious about acquiring one used, especially without an extended warranty of some type.
  • I love my car! 2012 525i Xdrive

I purchased the vehicle as CPO in November. At this time I do not have to worry when it comes to maintenance since it's covered until 1/17/2018. The driving experience is without question the best. The vehicle handles like a dream. The multiple driving options (ECO, Comfort, and Sports) was a pleasant surprise. I normally drive the car in Comfort mode but I'm glad to have the Sports mode, which turns the vehicle into a monster. Thanks to the Xdrive during a recent down pour I had complete confidence. No more worrying about hydroplaning. Other vehicles were pulling over and I was able to muscle right through the storm with ease. The Stop/Start option is nice but can be annoying so for the most part I disengage it. The interior is beautiful and very comfortable.
